How To Make Sure Your Kids Clothes Last Longer

Below, we take a look at some of our top tips when it comes to keeping your kids clothes looking new for as long as possible.

Rotate Usage Of Clothes – Although kids always have favourite clothes that they want to wear day after day, continual usage of clothes is of course going to make them wear out much quicker than when worn intermittently. If you have 7 pairs of trousers then you should be trying to make sure they are all used once a week, rather than trying to get crammed usage out of a pair before moving onto the next one.

Keep Some Old Clothes – If you know your child is going to be involved with some really heavy activities like nursery or going to the park, it makes no sense to dress them up in expensive or new clothes. Although we all want our kids to look smart, there are just times when you need to dress them in older clothes else you know they are going to come home ruined and will end up in your old pile anyway.

Reduce Washing – The more times you wash the clothes the quicker they will wear, especially when you are washing at hot temperatures. If you can, wash the clothes at a colder temperature than you might be used to and if you can, try to get away with washing the items so frequently to decrease the amount of damage caused by washing.

Fix Early – If you see a bit of wear and tear on the clothes then by tackling it early and sewing up the rip and other cuts you can help to prolong the life of the clothing item. Instead of letting any damage get really bad before you fix it, act early and try to make sure that you mend any issues as soon as they occur.

Pass Them Down – If you have relatives or friends that have children of roughly the same age then you can look at either handing the clothes down to them or get them to hand the clothes down to you. Far too many clothes just go to waste when there is simply no need for them to, so always try to be quite conscious when it comes to making clothes last as long as they possibly can before just throwing them away.

Just because you buy expensive clothes or cheap clothes does not really guarantee anything, but it is true to say that some of the more expensive and designer clothes tend to last longer than the cheaper alternatives.
